Noida, Uttar Pradesh Revenue Council Chairman Rajneesh Dubey on Thursday held a meeting with farmer unions and leaders in Noida and Greater Noida to discuss solutions to their problems, due to which there are continuous protests in the area.

Representatives and local leaders of farmers including All India Kisan Sabha, Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Morcha, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU-Tikait), BKU Manch, BKU Lok Shakti, BKU Non-Political and Bharaiya Kisa Sangharsh Samiti were present at the meeting. Unions participated.

According to a statement from the District Information Office, the Revenue Council Chairman spoke to the representatives of all the farmer organizations and obtained information about their demands and problems.

During the meeting, the farmers also raised their demands, which included giving rights to 10 per cent of developed land to farmers in lieu of their land being acquired by the authorities, increasing the limit of 450 square meter under the Population Regulations 2011 to 1,000 per square metre. He also demanded that building rules should not be imposed on under-construction houses of farmers in villages.

"The chairman was also apprised of the demands of allowing commercial activities on 100 per cent developed land, increasing circle rates and employment etc," the statement said.

I told that the meeting was attended by Meerut Divisional Commissioner Selva Kumari J, Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and Chief Executive Officers of Noida and Greater Noida Authority Lokesh M and NG Ravi Kumar.Gautam Buddh Nagar's twin cities Noida and Greater Noida have seen several protests by local farmer groups over the past few years and these demonstrations, which at times disrupt law and order, have been a major political issue in the region.

Such protests have been joined by farmers from over 200 villages in Noida and Greater Noida, demanding increased compensation and developed plots in lieu of their lands acquired by the local authorities and NTPC Dadri region in the past.
