In Itanagar, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday asserted that there will be no shortage of funds from the Arunachal Pradesh Center for implementation of welfare schemes in the northeastern state.

Rijiju, who arrived here to attend the expanded state executive meeting of the BJP, said his ministry will soon approve several new plans for the state.

“During a review meeting of all ongoing schemes related to my ministry, Chief Minister Pema Khandu directed the officials concerned to carry out geo-tagging of completed and incomplete programs and submit utilization certificates to the Center for approval of more funds. “Rijiju told reporters here.

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs said he had sanctioned two more projects: the improvement of a community playground in Changlang district and the improvement of a school in Upper Subansiri district, with an estimated cost of 35 crores.

“I will leave no stone unturned to ensure that my ministry’s welfare schemes reach every corner of the state. The Ministry will provide funds for various projects, including those in the sports and health sector,” he said.

Rijiju said efforts will be made to impart skill development training to the youth of the state and job opportunities will be created by establishing 'hunar huts' in each district where tribal communities can sell their handwoven products.

“My ministry will also set up centers for women empowerment through the state Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA), besides providing budgetary support,” she said.

“As a state Lok Sabha MP, I will also help Arunachal Pradesh get funds from other ministries. The pace of development work here will take on a new dimension in the third term of the Narendra Modi government,” Rijiju said.

Referring to his favorite project, the Border Highway, he informed that he has already started the bidding process for the same.

The Rs 40,000-crore project aims to foster socio-economic growth, curb migration, facilitate reverse migration, enable development of hydropower projects and promote tourism, officials said.

Responding to questions on opposition by various organizations to the proposed mega dams in the state, the minister said such projects would be executed keeping in mind the interest of locals and environmental concerns.

Rijiju also said that the Center and the state government are working on priority basis for restoration of damaged vital roads and bridges in the state, following landslides triggered by heavy rains.

He also announced the release of financial assistance of Rs 35 crore as core share from the state for ongoing projects, an official statement said.
