KARACHI [Pakistan]: The Pakistani administration announced a 30 percent reduction in prices last month keeping in mind the increase in the number of travelers on Eid this year. However, passengers have claimed that all these announcements are not genuine but were merely vague promises. According to him, despite the announcement of discount on tickets, the train fare at the counter remains the same. “What can we say about the discount, it is visible,” said Attaullah, a passenger who came to Karachi Railway Station for about half an hour. Opened late, and staff's attitude is rude towards passengers. Concessional tickets are being given only to those who have previously bribed the employees or who have some relatives in the Railways, the general public is still standing in lines to get tickets.

Another passenger named Ayub claimed, “They might have made fresh announcements about the discounts, but when you stand in the queue, no discounts are being given. We are saying that if we want relaxation, we have to approach the trains directly." Ticket checkers. And yet, there is no assurance of seat or birth for the passenger, you will be allowed to travel only by standing. Then What is the benefit of giving us 30 percent discount?”.

Shabbir Ahmed, a man with a small family who wanted to catch a train from Karachi railway station, said, “People of Pakistan are under immense financial pressure.Instead of giving us continuous relief, when we are already suffering due to inflation. Transport, which earlier cost 500 PKR, now costs at least 700 PKR due to the increase in fuel prices. We expected relief. Voted for them but they are again pressurizing us" He further said that "All they are interested in is fulfilling their luxurious desires with whatever loan they ask for from the IMF." Had the money been invested for the benefit of the people, people would have got some relief and the discount being claimed on railway tickets is not real. I have mentioned it only on paper. The train ticket which earlier cost Rs 320, is still the same. Raising the issue of corruption in the railway division, Ahmed claimed, "No action is being taken against it." Passengers, and in the end, they are collecting more black money. Every railway minister of Pakistan has been proven to be involved in corruption.
