Shimla/Solan: Amid the controversy over the appointment of Vice Chancellor of Palampur Agricultural University, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Sunday said that there is no difference of opinion between the state government and Raj Bhavan.

Shukla's comments came after Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu met the Governor on Friday and said the file related to the appointment of Agricultural University VC was with the government and there was a "communication gap".

Talking to journalists in Solan, Governor Shukla said that a minister had given the statement due to some misunderstanding, which Chief Minister Sukhu has clarified.

On June 27, Shukla objected to state agriculture minister Chandra Kumar's reported remarks blaming the Raj Bhavan for the delay in the appointment of the vice-chancellor for the agricultural university in Palampur.

Kumar had reportedly said that the file related to the appointment of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar as VC of Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University in Palampur is pending at Raj Bhavan.

On Sunday, the Governor said that the file had actually reached the government about three months ago and is currently with the law department.

Shukla said, the Chief Minister himself has said this.

When asked about monsoon preparations, the Governor said that he had recently spoken to CM Sukhu and directed the government to take adequate measures so that no disaster like last year occurs.

He said, "I think the CM is working in this regard. I hope the preparations will be better this time."
