The Congress said, "As a result of such concerted efforts, the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was finally installed at the same place where it had been installed till now. The earlier installation of the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar has helped those paying tribute to him on his birth and death anniversaries. There was also uninterrupted movement of people."All this has now been arbitrarily and unilaterally voided," the chief said.
He said there is a dedicated committee called "Committee on Installation of Portraits and Statues of National Leaders and Parliamentarians in the Parliament House Complex", comprising MPs from both Houses, but it has not been reconstituted since 2019.
"Such decisions taken without proper discussion and deliberations with relevant stakeholders are against the rules and traditions of our Parliament," he said.
The Congress president's reaction came as Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the Rajya Sabha Chairman, inaugurated the newly constructed Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House complex, where all the statues of eminent Indian leaders and freedom fighters were already installed at various places.A place has been brought in the Parliament House complex.
