New Delhi: State-owned NLC India Limited (NLCIL) on Tuesday said its lignite production increased by 22.12 per cent to 61.72 lakh tonnes (LT) in the first quarter of the current financial year.

The company's lignite production in the same period a year ago was 50.54 LT.

NLCIL, a Navratna company under the coal ministry, said in a statement that the company's coal production during the first quarter of 2024-25 increased by 35.27 per cent to 28.46 LT compared to a year ago.

The company's gross power generation increased to 7,553.62 MU in the June quarter from 6,843.09 MU in the year-ago period.

"This includes renewable energy generation of 546.63 MU as against 539.28 MU in Q1FY24," it said.

The company's market capitalization rose 5.28 percent to Rs 240.15 per share from Rs 228.10.
