The issues to be discussed will include the Amarnath Yatra Track and Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to ensure smooth yatra to the holy cave shrine starting on June 29 and ending after 52 days on August 19.

This will be Nitin Gadkari's first meeting in Jammu and Kashmir after taking charge of the Road Transport and Highways Ministry at the Center after the Lok Sabha elections.

Various strategically important developmental projects including Zojila Tunnel are under construction in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Once operational, this tunnel will keep Ladakh connected by road to Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country throughout the year as the highway currently remains closed during the winter months.

The project included in the priority list of the Central Government is the construction of the highway on the Amarnath Yatra track from both the base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam. Work has already been done by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to widen the travel track and cover the surface with blocks besides paying attention to turns and slopes.

Maintenance of the Ramban-Banihal section of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway is another agenda point of Gadkari's review meeting as this section of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has to be kept transportable for commuters to reach the valley.

Developmental projects worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore are being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir and all these are likely to be reviewed during the meeting.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister of State (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh will participate in the meeting, while Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo will present a detailed progress report during the review meeting with officials directly involved in these developmental projects. .
