BANGKOK: Nishant Dev stormed into the 71kg pre-quarterfinals by defeating his Mongolian opponent in just two minutes while Abhinash Jamwal failed to perform well as he crashed out of the second boxing World Olympic Qualifier here on Tuesday.

Dev, who had missed out on an Olympic quota by a narrow margin in the previous qualifiers, unleashed a flurry of punches against Mongolia's Otgonbaatar Bayamba-Erdenato and forced a standing count in the very first minute.

A combination of jab and cross hook led to another standing count and the referee stopped the contest (RSC) with still 58 seconds left to play in Round 1.

Earlier, Jamwal made a courageous comeback after losing the first round against Colombia's Jose Manuel Viafara Fori in the 63.5kg bout.

He clearly dominated the third and final round and had all five judges' scores tied.

However, as per the rules, the judges were asked to re-weigh the performances and decide the winner after the scores were tied.

After long deliberations they all finally voted in favor of Forri, setting the final score at 5:0 for the Colombian.

The third Indian boxer, Sachin Siwach will take on Denmark's Frederik Jensen in the round of 32 of 57kg at the end of the day.
