The development came to light during the court proceedings when Delhi's Patiala House Court was hearing the application for interim bail or custodial parole of jailed engineer Rashid so that he can take oath as a member of the Lok Sabha.

NIA counsel told the court that the agency has no objection if the court allows Engineer Rashid to take oath as a Lok Sabha member.

However, the lawyer argued that if the court allows Engineer Rasheed to take oath, then certain restrictions should be imposed on him such as not talking to the media.

The court may give its verdict on Tuesday.

Engineer Rashid defeated former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah by a huge margin of over two lakh votes in North Kashmir's Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.
