New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized seven immovable properties in Kashmir belonging to a top terrorist of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

It said the property of terrorist Sartaj Ahmed Mantu, including 19 marla and 84 square feet of land at Kisrigam in Pulwama district, was attached on Wednesday on the orders of a special NIA court in Jammu.

Sartaj was arrested on January 31, 2020, and arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from his possession.

The statement issued by the NIA said that the charge sheet was filed against him on July 27, 2020 and he is currently facing charges under the Arms Act, Indian Penal Code, Explosive Substances Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933. It said he along with his five co-accused members of Jaish-e-Mohammed were involved in transporting terrorists to the Kashmir Valley.

The investigating agency said that since its formation by Masood Azhar in 2000, Jaish-e-Mohammed has carried out several terrorist attacks in India, including Jammu and Kashmir.

JeM was listed as a 'designated foreign terrorist organization' by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1267 and the group's leader Masood Azhar was designated as a 'global terrorist' by the UNSC in 2019.

Just a week ago, the NIA had attached six immovable properties of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in Kashmir as part of its crackdown on terrorist operatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
