New Delhi, NHRC has sent notices to the Bihar government and the state police chief over a report that several women working in a private networking company in Muzaffarpur district were given toxic pills and forced to have a physical relationship by the firm operator.

The number of such girl victims reportedly exceeds one hundred, the National Human Rights Commission said in a statement.

The NHRC said it had taken "suo motu cognizance of a media report that several women working in a private networking company in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar were given intoxicating pills, beaten and forced into physical relations." by the company operator".

A large number of "criminal cases" have reportedly been registered in various districts of Bihar against the company, but the police "have not taken any strict action" in this regard. The company has branches in many places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal, he said.

"According to the media report, published on June 18, girls are being exploited physically and mentally in more than 10 districts of Bihar including Muzaffarpur, Supaul, East Champaran, West Champaran, Saran, Siwan and Gopalganj," the statement said.

The network company operator reportedly has a "history of involvement in criminal activities." He takes girls to Nepal under the pretext of offering them training, where they are "physically exploited and if they protest, they are beaten mercilessly," he added.

The Commission has observed that the content of the news, if true, would raise a serious issue of human rights violation. Accordingly, it has sent notices to the chief secretary and director general of Bihar police, seeking a detailed report within a week.

The report requested from the state government must include the number of criminal cases registered against the network operator and company, mentioned in the news report, the status of their investigation and the action taken by the police and civic authorities against the perpetrators, the statement said.

The Commission would also like to know about the relief and rehabilitation services, as well as the medical treatment and counseling provided by the authorities to the girl victims, as well as the measures taken or proposed to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. aggregate.
