Mumbai, A day after the onset of southwest monsoon in Mumbai, which led to widespread rain and water-logging in many parts of the city, the IMD has predicted thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rainfall here on Monday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to favorable conditions along the Maharashtra coast, the monsoon reached Mumbai on Sunday, two days ahead of normal time.

Following heavy rains on Sunday, many areas like Byculla, Sion, Dadar, Mazgaon, Kurla, Vikhroli and Andheri were waterlogged, severely affecting vehicular movement and causing long traffic jams.

Local train services, the lifeline of the city, were also delayed due to water logging on the tracks at some places, officials said.

A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said that in the 24-hour period ending 8 am on Monday, the island city recorded an average of 99.11 mm rainfall, with eastern parts of Mumbai 61.29 mm and western areas 73.78 mm. Was recorded.

The IMD has predicted cloudy sky along with moderate to heavy rain in the city and suburbs on Monday, the official said.

The sky remained cloudy in Mumbai but there was no rain in most parts of the city since Monday morning.
