Taruba (Trinidad), Veteran fast bowler Trent Boult has confirmed that the ongoing T20 World Cup will be his last appearance for New Zealand in the marquee-tournament.

Since his debut in 2011, Boult has been a key member of the Blackcaps' golden generation, appearing in multiple finals for New Zealand across all three formats. Additionally, the left-arm fast bowler has participated in four editions of the T20 World Cup since 2014.

"Speaking on my own behalf, this will be my last T20 World Cup. That's all I have to say," Boult said at the press conference after New Zealand's nine-wicket win over Uganda.,

Whether Boult will continue to play for New Zealand in any capacity remains uncertain as he opted out of a central contract in 2022 and has instead opted to play T20 franchise cricket around the world.

Despite a big win against Uganda and a match left, New Zealand are already out of the Super Eights race with Afghanistan and West Indies taking up the two spots in Group C.

Effectively, New Zealand's last group game against Papua New Guinea will be the 34-year-old's last T20 World Cup.

“Definitely (it) was not the start we wanted in the tournament. It was tough to take.Just disappointed we're not moving forward. But whenever you get a chance to represent the country, it's a proud moment."

New Zealand have been a picture of consistency, having made the semi-finals of the showpiece every time since 2014.

"There's a lot of pride in the dressing room and playing for the country, we've had some great records over the last several years. Unfortunately we've been off the ball the last few weeks and that's why we haven't been able to qualify.,

"It's unfortunate, but there's still some tremendous talent inside that dressing room and New Zealand cricket is coming up at the top level, so we're a proud nation and we'll continue to move down that path," he said.

Meanwhile, in the T20 World Cup, the bowlers have had a successful tournament at the expense of batsmen troubling them on difficult wickets, with only one 200-plus score so far. Bolt has called for restoring balance.

“Yes, it is a challenge, no doubt about that. There have been some very low scores.I have played cricket around the world recently and you come across a lot of different situations."

"It's always a challenge to adapt to the conditions, but I think the balance has been very much in favor of the bowler, but they have not been very good wickets. It has been a good challenge with bat and ball, but it's worth seeing Interesting in a world tournament."
