The renowned economist also said that the problem of unemployment in India cannot be solved without paying attention to education.

“Unfortunately, this area has not been given much emphasis,” he lamented.

Commenting on the results of the recent Lok Sabha elections, Sen said that in recent times, there was discussion even at the school level on how a 'Hindu Rashtra' could be established.

“But it needs to be understood that the differences between the two religious communities do not apply in the case of children. So I think this trend was bucked to some extent in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections,” Sen said.
