New Delhi: Nethra Kumanan on Friday secured the second Paris Olympics quota for India in sailing, claiming it under the banner of the Emerging Nations Program at the Olympic Qualifier, Las Chances Regatta in Hyères, France.

Nethra, who participated in the Tokyo Games three years ago, was competing

Women's canoe (ILCA 6).

Nethra scored 67 net points to finish fifth on the overall leaderboard, however, she secured the Olympic quota as the top performer among the Emerging Nations Program (ENP) sailors who were yet to receive a quota.

World Yachting, the world governing body for the sport, aims to help athletes from lesser-known sailing countries make an impact at the top level through the ENP programme.

The top three sailors in the women's dinghy, Romania's Ebru Bolat (36 net points), Cyprus' Marilena Makri (37 net points) and Slovenia's Lin Platikos (54 net points) secured Olympic quotas.

Six-time Olympian Tatiana Drozdovskaya (59 net points), competing as an individual neutral athlete, finished fourth and missed the final.

The Last Chance Regatta is the final qualifying event in sailing for the 2024 Olympics.
