According to Xinhua news agency report, 48 people had died in rain-triggered disasters in the country since the monsoon season started on June 10.

Nepal Police spokesman Dan Bahadur Karki said incessant monsoon rains since Friday evening have wreaked havoc across Nepal, causing landslides and floods that have left 15 people dead, two missing and 17 others injured.

He told Xinhua that landslides and floods over the past two days have displaced at least 125 families, killed hundreds of livestock and blocked some highways across the country.

Some parts of Nepal's capital Kathmandu have been submerged.

Karki said, as the rains continue, the loss of life and property is likely to increase.
