New Delhi [India], the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on July 8 a series of pleas alleging paper leak and irregularities in the National Eligibility Examination and Entrance Test for University Students (NEET-UG) 2024 held on July 5 of May.

According to the July 8 cause list uploaded on the high court website, the pleas are listed before a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

The top court had earlier sought a response from the NTA on requests for re-examination NEET-UG, 2024 amid allegations of paper leak and said the "sanctity" of the exam has been affected and needs a response from the testing agency.

The top court had told the National Testing Agency (NTA) that if there is any negligence in the conduct of the NEET-UG, 2024 exam, it should be dealt with thoroughly.

On June 13, the Center and the NTA informed the high court that they had canceled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates and that the candidates had the option of retaking the test on June 23 or forgoing the compensatory marks awarded by loss. of time. A total of 813 students in seven centers took the new test held on June 23.

The aspirants had approached the high court and raised the issue of question paper leak, awarding compensatory marks and anomalies in the NEET-UG question paper.

Several petitions were filed in the high court seeking directions to withdraw the results of NEET-UG 2024 and conduct the exam again, alleging paper leaks and malpractices in the test conducted on May 5.

The high court had refused to stay the NEET-UG counselling, 2024.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted by NTA, is the route for admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

NEET-UG 2024 was held in 4,750 centers on May 5 and around 24 lakh candidates appeared in it.
