Chandigarh, Congress on Friday demonstrated here over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination and demanded an investigation under the supervision of a sitting Supreme Court judge.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, who is also the MP from Ludhiana, led the state unit's protest against alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam.

Chandigarh Youth Congress workers also protested against alleged irregularities in the examination.

The exam was conducted on May 5 across 4,750 centers and around 24 lakh candidates appeared for it. The results were expected to be declared on 14 June, but were declared on 4 June, as the evaluation of answer sheets was already completed.

There have been allegations of question paper leaks and other irregularities in this prestigious examination in states like Bihar. The allegations led to protests in several cities and petitions were filed in several high courts and the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that even if there was "0.001 per cent negligence" on someone's part in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, it should be dealt with completely.

NEET-UG exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.
