New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has shown significant strength in metro cities in the Lok Sabha elections, and has made substantial gains in urban centers like Delhi, Bengaluru and Pune.

However, the Mumbai region bucked the trend.

India Bloc has demonstrated its strength in rural areas and has secured majority of votes in rural areas.

In Delhi, the BJP has retained its stronghold and its candidates are leading in all seven constituencies in the city.

The trend is similar in Bengaluru, where urban voters have largely supported BJP representatives, indicating the alliance's appeal among metropolitan voters.

Pune also saw favorable results for the NDA, with the alliance gaining leads in several constituencies in the city.

In contrast, the India Bloc, a coalition of various opposition parties, is more aligned with the rural population.

The block has garnered substantial support across vast rural areas of the country and has made significant gains in other constituencies such as Korba in Chhattisgarh, Amla, Basti and Lalganj in Uttar Pradesh.

The performance underlines the alliance's appeal among the farming community and rural voters, who have preferred its candidates over the NDA candidates.

However, there have been exceptions in states like Odisha, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, where the NDA had almost clean sweeps in both rural and urban areas.
