Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik's son-in-law was injured after the driver of an SUV lost control and crashed into a wall in Kurla in central Mumbai, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place outside a hospital in Kurla West on Tuesday in which Sameer Khan was injured, an official said.

He said that Khan had gone to a private hospital with his wife Niloofar for a routine checkup.

As the couple sat in their SUV, the driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into the wall of a nearby building. Khan suffered head injuries, an officer said.

He said that with the help of local people, Khan was immediately taken to the hospital and he is undergoing treatment.

He said that the incident is under investigation.
