Mumbai: NCP (SP) leader Bajrang Sonawane, who recently won the Lok Sabha elections from Beed, called Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, an NCP leader claimed on Tuesday, triggering a discussion about the crossover.

MLC Amol Mitkari, a close aide of Ajit Pawar, popularly known as Dada, tweeted, "Bappa of Beed is called Dada."

Sonawane, who is fondly called Bajrang Bappa by his supporters, refuted the claim and said that he will remain with Sharad Pawar till his last breath.

In the recent elections, Sonawane had defeated BJP candidate Pankaja Munde from Beed.

Earlier this week, newly elected Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske had claimed that two MPs from the rival Sena (UBT) were in touch with the Eknath Shinde-led party.

Ajit Pawar-led NCP won only one Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra, while Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP) won 8 of the 10 seats it contested.
