NCERT said that some unscrupulous publishers are publishing NCERT school textbooks available on the NCERT website in their own names without taking permission from NCERT.

NCERT is an advisory body of the government in the field of school education.

The advisory body said NCERT, responsible for the development and dissemination of textbooks for all stages of school education, has long been considered an authoritative repository of educational teaching and learning resources.

NCERT said that any person or institution which publishes NCERT textbooks in whole or in part for commercial sale without obtaining copyright permission from NCERT or uses NCERT textbook material in such publication will be liable under the Copyright Act 1957. Action will be taken accordingly.

“The general public is requested to please stay away from such textbooks or workbooks as their content may be factually incorrect as well as against the basic philosophy of NCF 2023. Any person who sees such pirated textbooks or workbooks should immediately inform NCERT through email. [email protected],” the official said.

The advisory body further said that any publisher wishing to use the NCERT name in its publication should send a proposal to Publications Division NCERT, Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi-16 or email [email protected].

NCERT Deputy Secretary Rajesh Kumar said the advisory on copyright infringement in the use of educational materials designed and developed by NCERT has been issued as a public notice. Stakeholders are requested to respect the copyright advisory issued by NCERT in letter and spirit. Do not indulge in copyright infringement in educational materials developed by NCERT.
