Nagpur: Nagpur airport was thoroughly searched by security personnel on Monday after authorities received a bomb threat through an email, but nothing suspicious was found on the premises.

This was the third bomb threat message at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport since April.

When contacted, a senior airport official said that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had received an email about a pipe bomb being planted in an airport toilet.

Nagpur airport authorities were informed about the contents of the email in the morning. He said security personnel conducted a thorough search of the airport premises, but no suspicious object was found.

Security has been increased at the airport.

On June 18, Nagpur was among more than 40 cities whose airports received fake bomb threat emails. In April too, Nagpur Airport had received a similar bomb threat, which turned out to be a rumour.
