Kohima, Governor La Ganesan on Friday appealed to the people of ENPO and Eastern Nagaland to participate in the urban local body elections to be held on June 26.

He said the concerns raised by the Eastern Nagaland People's Organization (ENPO), the apex body of the seven Naga tribes spread across six districts of the state, regarding the demand for creation of a separate state of the frontier Nagaland region are being diligently addressed. Center.

On 16 May, ENPO had announced its decision not to participate in the local body elections on 26 June. Zero voting was recorded in Eastern Nagaland during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

"Voting in any election is not just a right but an important opportunity that ensures representation of the people's voice in governance and upholding democratic principles," he said.

Ganesan assured the ENPO and the people of Eastern Nagaland that "their concerns regarding the creation of the Frontier Nagaland Area are being diligently addressed by the Central Government".

“Constructive dialogue and continued participation in the democratic process should be encouraged by all relevant stakeholders,” he said.

Ganesan urged people to "come together to uphold democratic values ​​and work continuously towards a united and prosperous Nagaland".

ENPO has been demanding a separate state since 2010, claiming that six districts in the eastern part of Nagaland have been neglected for years.
