"NABARD, as an apex development finance institution, functions by providing financial assistance and support to various financial institutions and cooperative societies involved in rural development. It does not extend loans directly to individual farmers," the organization said in a statement.

It said all stakeholders, especially farmers and rural entrepreneurs, are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid believing in such misinformation.
