Imphal, A Myanmar national has been arrested in Chandel district of Manipur for illegally entering India. Officials gave this information on Monday.

He said that the person has been identified as Thanglinkap of Khampat, Myanmar, who was arrested by security forces from Kachibung.

"He claimed to have a business in Churachandpur. A thorough investigation is underway," an officer said.

Commenting on the arrest, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, "I have been saying continuously since the beginning that outsiders are behind the current crisis in Manipur. Some believed it, while some did not. Assam Rifles Appreciate the activities." A Myanmar national, a KNA (B), was arrested."

Meanwhile, the Kuki student organization claimed that the arrested person was not a terrorist and had not entered India illegally.

It was claimed that he entered the state by following the proper process of registration with the concerned authorities.

"The Chief Minister should not be hasty in reaching conclusions on the basis of preliminary investigation, especially with regard to the arrest of an alleged member of KNA(B)," it said.
