Apple announced on Monday that in iOS 18, users will be able to ask Siri questions and OpenAI's ChatG will respond.

“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, Apple devices will be banned in my companies. This is an unacceptable security breach,” Musk posted on X.

The tech billionaire further said that visitors to his companies will have to "check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage".

X users responded saying it's time for the 'X Smartphone'.

However, both Apple and OpenAI have clarified that users' permission will be sought "before sending any questions to ChatGPT" along with any documents or photos.

Responding to a user who said OpenAI doesn't have access to iPhones, Musk wrote: “Then leave it as an app. This is nonsense."

At its 'WWDC 2024' event, Apple announced that it is integrating ChatG access into experiences across iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise without the need to jump between tools. Permission is granted.

Siri can take advantage of ChatGPT's expertise when helpful. Users are asked before sending any document or photo to ChatGPT and Siri presents the answer directly.

"Additionally, Chatzy will be available across Apple's system-wide writing tools, helping users create content for anything they write," the company said.
