Indore: A murder victim whose body parts were found in two trains has been identified as a 35-year-old married woman who went missing from Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district a fortnight ago, police said on Wednesday. .

The body was found in a passenger train in Indore on June 9, while the severed hands and legs were found in another train in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, 1,100 km away on June 10, a senior Government Railway Police (GRP) official said. Here.

GRP Indore Superintendent of Police Santosh Kori said, "The victim of the brutal murder has been identified as Meera (35), a resident of Bilpank police station area of ​​Ratlam district."

The SP said the woman, who has two daughters, left home on June 6 following a fight with her husband and the family lodged a missing complaint at Bilpank police station six days later.

He said the GRP has already announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for anyone providing information about the criminals and the investigation is ongoing.

The SP said police found tattoos of "Meera Ben" and "Gopal Bhai" in Devanagari script on the woman's hand, which revealed her identity.

"Gopal is her brother's name. It is a custom in a community in the Ratlam region to get the brother's name tattooed along with one's name on the girl's hand," he said.

GRP station in-charge Sanjay Shukla collected information about all the women named Meera who went missing in the state this year. They found 39 such women.

"The body was identified based on her brother's name as well as her features and the jewelery she was wearing. But we are also conducting DNA tests to confirm the identity," he said.
