Jammu: A person wanted in the 2008 murder of a sarpanch was arrested from Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Police gave this information.

A police spokesperson said Mir Hussain, a resident of Keshwan, was the most wanted fugitive of the district and was arrested by a special team following specific information from Kishtwar.

The spokesperson said that 16 years ago, Hussain had gone underground after kidnapping and killing the then Sarpanch of Nagni Ghad Keshwan area, Bashir Ahmed.

He said that a case has been registered against Ranbir under relevant sections of the Penal Code and Arms Act.

The spokesperson said that he will be produced in the court for hearing of the case.
