Mumbai: Two days after 24-year-old Mihir Shah allegedly rammed his BMW car into a two-wheeler, killing a woman and injuring her husband, the Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested Mihir Shah. have done.

Mihir, whose father is a leader of the ruling Shiv Sena, had fled after the fatal accident. A police officer said that Mihir was arrested near Mumbai.

Police said Mihir Shah's father Rajesh Shah played an active role in ensuring his son's escape and had also planned to tow the attacking vehicle.

Mihir Shah was allegedly driving the BMW car that crushed Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and injured her husband Pradeep in Mumbai's Worli area on Sunday morning while the couple were on their two-wheeler, police said.

To catch Mihir Shah, Mumbai Police had formed 11 teams and also included the Crime Branch in it. The officer said that a Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him.

Rajesh Shah and the family's driver Rajrishi Bidawat, arrested earlier in the case, were produced in a Mumbai court on Monday and sent to 14-day judicial and one-day police custody respectively. However, Rajesh Shah was later granted bail by the court.

A local court on Tuesday extended Bidawat's police custody till July 11.

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde had said that no one would be spared in the case.

Shinde had said, "As long as I am the Chief Minister, no one, whether rich, influential, or child of bureaucrats or ministers, associated with any party, will get any exemption."
