Bhinde, director of EGO Media Pvt Ltd, was arrested from Udaipur city of Rajasthan on Thursday and brought to Mumbai.

He was appointed Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Esplanade Court, K.S. Presented before. Zanwar sent him to 10 days police custody.

On May 13, when a sudden dust storm hit Mumbai, followed by rain, thunder and strong winds, huge illegal hoardings fell on some houses and petrol pumps, crushing more than 100 people and 71 large and small vehicles.

Soon after the tragedy, Bhandup police booked Bhinde under various charges including culpable homicide and started investigation.

Seeking 14-day custody, the Mumbai Police prosecutor said that Bhinde had many more hoardings in the city and the police needed to conduct a thorough investigation. This would include financial aspects as a minimum of Rs 5 crore is required to manage a hoarding, details of those granted permission to put up the billboard, its structural stability clearance, related aspects.

Bhinde's lawyer Rizwan Merchant argued that the basis of the remand petition was invalid as the police had not informed his client about the reasons for his arrest.
