Pune: Mantra Racing's multiple-time national champion Hemant Mudappa started the season with a double win at the summer edition of Valley Run 2024 at Aamby Valley here on Tuesday.

Muddappa from Bengaluru was also adjudged the fastest rider of the day.

Mudappa, a 12-time national champion, punched above his weight and won the unrestricted category with a 1000 cc bike, the BMW S1000RR, setting a national record of 09.480 seconds for the category.

He defeated experienced rider Mohammad Riaz of Hyderabad.

In the four-stroke 851 to 1050 cc open category, Mudappa won the second gold medal by clocking 09.692 seconds, leaving Mumbai's Riddish Patil behind, but had to settle for second place in the third category.

Riding on the Daytona, Riaz won the 4-stroke 551 to 850 cc Open class in 10.42 seconds, pushing Mudappa's Kawasaki Ninja 6R into second place.

The FMSCI event was scheduled to run concurrently with the first round of the Nationals, but since the MMSC event was postponed, race organizers Elite Octane and Sportscraft successfully completed the 2024 edition.
