While the government transferred 21 senior IAS officers on Friday, Dr KV Rajendra's transfer is sure to attract attention as he had written letters to the MUDA and the state government to cancel site allotments.

Senior IAS officer Lakshmikanth Reddy G was appointed as the new DC in place of Dr KV Rajendra.

Meanwhile, the state BJP lashed out at the Congress government over the transfer of DC Rajendra.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Friday stated, “The Congress government has taken revenge on a competent government official through a sudden move. “The district commissioner concerned has been continuously writing to the government about the illegalities committed by MUDA.”

“The government is currently playing a drama to get the land fraud investigation carried out and thinks that if an efficient officer continues in the same position, the truth will come to light. It is evident that the transfer is carried out with fear of exposure. The reason behind the move is to silence the scam,” Vijayendra said.

Sources said Dr KV Rajendra had written 15 letters to MUDA, objecting to the allotment of land under the 50:50 scheme.

He had also written a letter to the Urban Development Department clearly stating that land allocations under the 50:50 scheme were causing losses of billions of rupees to the government.

The sources alleged that the MUDA Commissioner did not bother to respond and, ignoring the letters, continued with the land distributions.

BJP leader R Ashoka on Friday alleged that “the Rs 4,000-crore MUDA case was taking new turns every day”.

R Ashoka alleged that Urban Development Minister Bhyrathi Suresh took the allotment file of 14 sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife in Bengaluru.

“I demand that the government put these files in the public domain,” she urged.

Meanwhile, sources said the state government turned a blind eye to the expert committee report which alleged that MUDA was committing irregularities and also ignored the DC report seeking action against the MUDA Commissioner.

The complaints regarding MUDA allocations were raised in 2022 and the BJP government formed a technical committee in this regard on July 2, 2022.

The committee had submitted the report on November 3, 2023 in three volumes but no action was initiated against the accused, sources claimed.

Sources also alleged that 6,800 plots of land had been illegally allotted to influential people and that these plots had been purchased at low prices from farmers and registered in the names of relatives and confidants of powerful people.

These sites were allegedly later denoted and withdrawn from procurement and, after the implementation of the 50:50 scheme, were allocated.

The government has suffered a loss of over Rs 5,000 crore, sources alleged.

The Karnataka BJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddarmaiah, who has denied all allegations and has asked the department concerned to take back the land allotted to his wife and return Rs 62 million to his family.
