Seoni (Madhya Pradesh): The dead body of a tigress was found in Pench Tiger Reserve in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. An officer gave this information.

Reserve Deputy Director Rajneesh Singh said that the patrol team saw a 2-3 year old dead tigress on Gedighat Road under Salhe Beat at around 9 am.

He said that a search operation was conducted in the area with the dog squad, but no trace of the victim was found.

The reserve officer said that all the body parts of the tigress are safe.

He said that a case has been registered in this regard and efforts are being made to find out the cause of death.

After the autopsy, the carcass was disposed of as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines. He said the sample of viscera (internal organs) would be sent to the laboratory for testing.

According to the All India Tiger Estimate Report 2022, Madhya Pradesh had 785 tigers, the highest in the country.
