This is the first Karnataka visit of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi after the announcement of Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters at his residence in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar said that MP Rahul Gandhi will land at the Bengaluru International Airport on Wednesday afternoon and reach Mandya city.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, from Mandya he will leave for Kolar and from there he will reach Bengaluru and fly to New Delhi.

When asked about senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's visit to the state, Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar said that she will soon tell the date of her Karnataka visit.

“Time has to be adjusted because time is very short. There is pressure on him to visit other states. We have also requested him to come to Karnataka for a day, let's see,” he underlined.Talking about the tug-of-war with former CM HD Kumaraswamy, he said, 'Personally I respected Kumaraswamy earlier also and will continue to do so in the future. But, if he repeatedly makes nasty personal comments then it will not be in keeping with his dignity.

“Political matters are different. You write where his party will be after this election. Losing people like me is like losing the support of the community,'' he said.“For the sake of the community, I have not responded to any of his comments against me and I respect him. If Kumaraswamy makes personal attacks and states kidnap women to register their lands, where will the fallout be? Shivkumar asked a question.

“If I'm running a business exporting boulders on my property, that's my business. So what? Now I have stopped this business. Shivakumar said, if he is not coming for a face-to-face debate then it is fine, I will face him in the House.

“In this time of crisis we are managing the supply of drinking water to the people of Bengaluru. To divert the issue, Kumaraswamy is alleging that I am threatening the apartment residents,” said Shivakumar.“BJP is losing its presence in the state. Why are former CM, BS Yediyurappa, Leader of Opposition, R Ashok, not responding to Kumaraswamy's statement in which he said that women are taking the wrong path because of the guarantee? Shivakuma asked.
