Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh A 32-year-old IT professional undergoing treatment for depression and back pain allegedly committed suicide after tightly wrapping a polythene bag around his face and inhaling nitrogen from his mouth through a pipe, a The police officer said on Thursday.

According to police, Siddharth Khurana, who ended his life on Tuesday, left a 4-page suicide note in English in which he detailed his failures and said he was fed up of living a "miserable life".

Referring to the suicide note, police sources said that the deceased had discussed extensively on the internet to find ways of easy death.

Police sources said that after reading about hanging, poisoning etc, he chose to consume nitrogen gas as it causes death within 40 seconds.

Inspector Manisha Bhadauria of Misrod police station said that in the note, Khurana mentioned actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide in Mumbai in June 2020, but declined to elaborate.

"After being alerted, we entered Khurana's house, which was locked from inside on Tuesday," the officer said.

A picture of Khurana, dressed in shorts and a black T-shirt, lying dead with a polythene bag over his face and a nitrogen cylinder nearby went viral on social media.

"Khurana was a resident of Lucknow and was living alone at home after his live-in partner left a fortnight ago. He was employed with a reputed IT company and had been working from home since November. As per our investigation, According to him, he was being called for treatment of depression and back pain. The post mortem report is awaited.

"We will record the statement of his girlfriend. The body has been handed over to the relatives," he said.
