Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): A court in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district has sentenced a 24-year-old woman to death in 2022 for murdering her mother-in-law by stabbing her more than 95 times.

Additional Public Prosecutor Vikas Dwivedi said that Rewa District's Fourth Additional Sessions Judge Padma Jatav convicted Kanchan Kol of murdering her 50-year-old mother-in-law Saroj Kol.

He said that Kanchan, a resident of Atraila village of Mangava police station area, was accused of attacking her mother-in-law more than 95 times with a sickle on July 12, 2022, following a domestic dispute.

The victim was alone in the house at that time. Dwivedi said, his son later informed the police and took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The government lawyer said that in the case, victim Saroj Kol's husband Valmik Kol was also made a co-accused on the charge of instigating her, but he was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
