Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh): Congress candidate Dheeran Shah Inwati on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the by-election to be held on July 10 on Amarwada assembly seat in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
Invati will face BJP candidate and three-time MLA Kamlesh Shah.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari and the party's local MLA accompanied Inwati, a member of the Gond community, when she filed her nomination for the seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribe.
Till now a total of 11 candidates have filed nomination papers. Friday is the last day for filing nominations.
The by-election had become necessary because just before the Lok Sabha elections, MLA Kamlesh Shah had resigned from the Assembly after leaving the Congress and joining the ruling BJP.
By-elections will be held on 13 assembly seats in seven states on July 10.
