Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), On the day of voting in Madhya Pradesh's high-profile Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat on Friday, city mayor Vikram Ahake, who recently joined the BJP, urged people to vote for Congress's Nakul Nath .

“Soon after joining a political party, I felt suffocated. “I felt this was not the right thing to do to the person who developed Chhindwara,” Ahak said in a video message shared on social media.

Ahake said, Nath always dedicated himself to the betterment of the constituency, be it the education sector, providing treatment to people or doing development work.

“I will get a lot of opportunities to do politics in the future. I don't know what will happen to me, but if I don't stand with my leader Kamal Nath and Naku Nath today... because they have done a lot for me... I appeal to the voters to ensure the victory of Naku Nath Hoon (and his father (Kamal Nath) won by a huge margin,” Aahak said in the video message.

BJP has fielded Vivek Bunty Sahu against Nakulnath and several senior leaders visited the area to campaign for him.

Chhindwara is one of the six Lok Sabha seats where voting is going on in the first phase of parliamentary elections.

The Chhindwara mayor had joined the BJP in the state capital on April 1 in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state party president Vishnu Dutt Sharma.

Of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, Chhindwara is the only constituency where the BJP lost in 2019.

Former MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath has won from this seat nine times.
