Police officials said that a constable was injured in the firing.

According to the Superintendent of Police, "Last night in Darigaon police station area, three unidentified motorcycle-riding criminals opened fire on the policemen patrolling on bike during a routine check. During the firing, a constable got shot in his hand."

The police further said, "A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to further investigate the case. We request the public to share whatever relevant information they may have."
