The massive search operation launched from three different parts of Kathua, Udhampur and Bhaderwah is continuing despite intermittent rains in these areas.

Official sources said the terrorists were still hiding in the forest area adjacent to Badnota village in Kathua district, where five soldiers were killed and five others injured in a terrorist attack on Monday.

The source said that the detained people are being interrogated about the terrorist ambush and it is expected that some important clues will emerge during their interrogation.

Adequate number of police and paramilitary forces have also been deployed in the forest areas of Udhampur, Samba, Poonch and Rajouri districts. The search operation has also been extended to Rajouri and Poonch districts.

The Army's elite para commandos, who specialize in conducting surgical strikes in densely forested areas, are deployed deep inside the forest area of Kathua. The help of drones, sniffer dogs, helicopters, metal detectors etc. is being taken in the search operation.

Currently, search operation is going on in Gandhi saffron forests in Doda district.

Villagers of Badnota village in Kathua are worried about their safety as Monday's terror attack is the first in this quiet area, about 150 km from Kathua city. Security forces believe that both the terrorists who were ambushed near Badnota village on Monday have suffered injuries and may not have been able to cover much distance on foot.

All vehicles traveling to and from the areas covered under the scanner are thoroughly checked and every person traveling by any type of vehicle is given clearance only after proper identification and search.
