Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 93 people have suffered from stomach infection after drinking contaminated water from a well in a village in Maharashtra's Nanded district. Officials gave this information on Monday.

According to officials, Mugaon Tanda village, where the incident occurred, has 107 houses with a population of 440.

District Health Officer Balaji Shinde said that on June 26 and 27, 93 people reached the local health center complaining of stomach ache and diarrhea.

He said 56 patients were treated in Mugaon Tanda village, while 37 others were referred to the primary health center in neighboring Manjaram village and later discharged.

The official said that a team of doctors is deployed in Mugaon Tanda village.

"We conducted a survey and the possible source of infection was a well from where water is supplied to the villagers. The well has been sealed and water from a nearby filter plant is being made available to the villagers," he said.
