According to the latest information available on the Election Commission's app, more than 78 percent voting took place in 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly constituencies during the voting held in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh on May 13.

However, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena said the data would be updated.

“This is not final. Voting was also going on late night (May 13), in which I did not participate,” the CEO said, hinting that this may increase.

At many polling stations, voters already standing in the queue were allowed to exercise their franchise till 6 pm on Monday, resulting in voting well after the deadline.

Explaining the delay, an official said that although there was a lot of interest among the people in voting, the voting process was a bit slow.

Meena had earlier said that when simultaneous elections were held in 2019, Andhra Pradesh had recorded 79.83 per cent voting.

According to the Election Commission, 454 candidates contested the Lok Sabha elections and 2,387 candidates contested the Assembly elections.
