Voting in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was 77.67 percent; And looking at the current rate of voting on Friday, it is expected that it may cross 80 per cent.

The special thing on Friday was that voters across the state started standing in queues even before the voting started at 7 am.

Among those who voted were Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Defense Minister A. Parambil, E.P Jayarajan and many others.

In total, there are 25,177 polling stations and 181 auxiliary booths. Of these, 2,776 are model polling stations and 555 polling stations are manned by all-women teams.

100 booths are being managed by youth, while 10 booths are being managed by disabled election officials.

There are 194 candidates in the fray belonging to three political fronts, including the ruling CPI(M)-led Left, Congress-led UDF and BJP-led ND, besides several independent candidates and some other parties.

There are 2,77,49,159 voters in the state, including 1,43,33,499 women, 1,34,15,293 men and 367 transgenders.

Although the BJP-led NDA is contesting on all 20 seats, there is a triangular electoral battle in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur.

In the 2019 elections, the Congress-led UDF won 19 seats, while the Left won one seat.
