Ahmedabad: Congress leader Supriya Shrinet on Sunday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reading the 2019 script for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and also accused him of misleading people over quota for Muslims.
BJP has been saying that Congress, as part of its appeasement politics, wants to snatch the quota of SC, ST and OBC and give it to Muslims.
Shrinate, head of Congress's social media and digital platforms, claims that PM Modi had said in an interview in 2022 that BJP governments in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have already given reservation to Muslims as OBCs.
"After serving as the Prime Minister of India for 10 years, we thought that he would not face the people and present his report card and seek votes on the achievements of his government. Instead, he would not face the people in the same 2014 election. Reading the script in 2024.He does not talk about anything other than Congress and its leaders, so what was our P doing in these ten years?” He asked the question.
He claimed that the 2024 elections would be a repeat of 2004 when BJP's 'India Shining' campaign failed and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government was voted out of power.
"Modi is spreading lies about the reservation being given to Muslims in Congress-ruled Karnataka. This reservation was given by HD Deve Gowda on the basis of a survey conducted in 1974 when he was the Chief Minister. And today, Deve Gowda's party JD ( S) BJP's ally Congress government has not implemented it for the last three decades.
On rape and other allegations against JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, Srinath claimed that Modi sought votes for him in Mysuru despite being aware of the issue.He alleged, "Modi sought votes for Revanna, who is no less than a monster. Was he not aware of his misdeeds? Modi knew everything because local BJP leaders had already made headlines about Revanna. The BJP leadership was warned."
The Congress leader said, instead of speaking about Muslims, the PM should speak about the other three 'M's i.e. Mahila (women), Mehndi (price rise) and Manipur violence.
He said, “My leader (Rahul Gandhi) went to Manipur twice and tried to bring peace. Modiji has not yet found time to go to Manipur, where violence is still going on.,
Shrinate claimed that people are silent but they are voting against BJP because they know that after getting 400 Lok Sabha seats, it will change the Constitution and end reservation.
Modi is trying to divert attention by speaking about Muslims, Pakistan and Muslim League during rallies, but Congress will ensure that the election is on issues related to people like unemployment, inflation, corruption, wealth inequality and sharing based on population .
Accusing Modi of spending Rs 6,500 crore to build his image, Srinath said that in the last one year the poor have become poorer while the rich have flourished.
He alleged that it does not suit the BJP to talk about Hinduism or cow as the party has taken money from beef exporters through the electoral bond scheme.
