New Delhi: The Congress on Monday alleged that the Modi government has "diluted reservation through privatisation" and claimed that the deliberate handing over of state assets by the BJP to "some friends of the Prime Minister" shows that there is a corporate interest in them. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that with every privatization, reservation in employment for Dalits, tribals and OBC families ends.
"Every contractualization is a way to bypass reservations for Dalit, tribal and OBC families," he said in a post on X.
“Modi government has weakened reservation through privatization. These are the facts: 2.7 lakh central PSU employees have lost their jobs in other PM Modi eras.The share of contract workers has increased from 19% in 2013 to 43% in 2022! P Modi has overseen 72% of all disinvestments since the beginning of the disinvestment process in 1991,” Ramesh said.
He said that with every privatization comes the end of reservation in employment for Dalit, tribal and OBC families.
“Every contractualization is a way of bypassing reservations for Dalit, tribal and OBC families,” Ramesh said.
He said that PSUs play an important role in inclusive growth through development of backward areas and employment generation for vulnerable communities.
