Noida: Rs 3 lakh in cash was seized from a person in Noida on Monday under rules of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, taking the total seizure to over Rs 83 lakh, officials said.

Police said in a statement that the checking campaign is going on in Gautam Buddha Nagar constituency in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

A police spokesperson said, "On Monday, police stopped a yellow Delhi-registered Maruti Brezza CA at Bhangel Bazaar in Phase 2 police station area. There were two people inside the car and after questioning, Rs 3 lakh was recovered from them. Cash worth Rs. was seized." Said.

"The occupants of the car were identified as Haroon Rasheed and Shamim Ahmed, both residents of Delhi," the spokesperson said.

As of Monday, unaccounted cash worth Rs 83,47,250 has been seized from Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar constituency, a local election official said.

Voting in this constituency is to be held on April 26.
