The Gopalapuram police, along with the Task Force, arrested the criminals, who were involved in theft of cell phones with deadly weapons.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) S. Rashmi Perumal said the accused were identified as Masood ur Rahman and Fazal ur Raheman, both residents of Hyderabad.

The police confiscated a stolen Honda Activa, used in the commission of the crime, two daggers and three mobile phones, including one that was snatched by the criminals.

Masood ur Rahman was earlier involved in three cases of theft registered in police stations of Cyberabad Police Station. A habitual criminal and school dropout who worked as a welder and taxi driver, he dedicated himself to committing robberies and robberies to earn quick money. He was earlier arrested by Nacharam and Mailardevpally police in similar cases, the DCP said.

On the intervening night of June 19 and 20, he, along with Fazal ur Raheman, roamed the streets of the city on a two-wheeler. They committed theft of a Honda Activa parked at Malakpet and parked the stolen vehicle at Star Hotel, Bholakpur, Musheerabad for further disposal.

From there they headed towards Secunderabad around 02:30 AM. m., where they saw a person near the Ganesh temple heading towards the railway station. They snatched his cell phone and threatened him with daggers. Upon hearing the victim's cries for help, an anti-kidnapping team made up of two agents began chasing the criminals. The accused threatened to kill them with daggers. They also tried to snatch another pedestrian's mobile phone, but gave up when they realized they were being followed closely.

At the City Light Hotel, fearing that the violators would cause harm to the public, one of the officers shot at the violators' two-wheeler, aiming for the tire. The bullet hit Masood's right calf, but they continued to flee. Another bullet was fired, but it failed to fire and the criminals managed to escape.

However, a special investigation team identified and arrested the accused within 48 hours.
