Aizawl, Three people have been arrested after methamphetamine pills worth Rs 2.9 crore were seized in Champhai district of eastern Mizoram. Police gave this information on Thursday.

Around 2 lakh meth tablets weighing 22.35 kg were found in an auto-rickshaw during random checking of vehicles at Khankawan check gate, he said.

The auto-rickshaw driver, Bualchunga (40), a resident of Dinthar area of ​​Champhai, was arrested on the spot, he said.

The drugs were seized while being smuggled in bags from Chungate village in Champhai town, from where they were to be picked up by the maxicab police.

After questioning the driver, two more people were arrested from Vengthalang area of ​​Champhai.

Police said they have been identified as Lalrochhra (33) and Vanlalruati (46).

He said that a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
