The body of a woman, suspected to be a victim of a landslide, was recovered from the Talawang river in Kolasib district of Aizawl, Mizoram on Friday.

Aizawl Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Alwal said the body was found in the river near Hortoki village.

He said that it is suspected that the body could be that of a person who had gone missing after the landslide in Aizawl.

Alwal said a search operation was underway to trace the six missing people in Meltham on the southern outskirts of Aizawl.

So far 28 bodies have been recovered from the debris of the landslide in the state capital. Officials said 20 of them were locals while eight were from Jharkhand and Assam.

The Aizawl district administration on Friday asked all families living around the landslide area in Hlimen to move to safe places.
